The great Japanese diaper review : Part five

Hi again,

This is the fifth part of the diaper review series that I started in early March. You can read part one here, part two here, part three here and part four here.

The fifth type of diaper that I will review in this series are called Goon (large 9-14kg, pants type). They are made by Elle-air and you can find their website here (Japanese only).

I bought a pack of 46 large diapers from the drugstore for 1180yen (thats 26yen per diaper). They are more expensive on Amazon.co.jp, where they are 29yen per diaper.

It must be noted that you can choose girl or boy versions of Goon diapers. Be careful!! Boy version is marked with (男) and girl with (女).

I have never seen a Goon commercial on TV here, but their website shows that they do indeed have one. It features Jun Matsumoto, a very famous member of boy-band Arashi hugging and smiling with a few babies (both japanese and non-japanese). If you love Jun and want a cute Goon desktop image featuring his smiley face, they are available to download here. Haha :)

Goon diapers feature the NHK television character Poco Potteito and his friends.

The diapers have different designs that I have photographed below. The front of the diaper is not clearly marked; but does have the company name in Japanese on it (グーン), and the back is clearly marked with the word うしろ (back) and tape which you can use to wrap up the diaper for disposal.

Pros
- cute Poco Potteito design
- there is a wetness indicator on the diapers
- very soft materials with a looser waistband
- they come in girl and boy versions which is rare in Japan

Cons

- I have not seen these diapers in a lot of places, so they might be harder to buy if you don`t live near a big baby store like Nishimatsuya.
- the name Goon is just ridiculous!! Not a real reason to not buy something I know, but... come on!

I really liked these diapers. They seem to be slim-fit which is good for Aiden who has grown only upwards (rather than outwards) over the past few months. He has skinny legs and these diapers really fit him well. Aiden is a big drinker, and usually goes through a lot of diapers each day. During our use of Goon diapers, we had no leaks or overflows. For that reason, and the fact that they are super soft, I might use these diapers again!
